Meadowlark is First-Ever Soft-Shell Rooftop Tent by Roofnest

People who love camping may not necessarily love camper trailers or are too broke to buy one. We are not sons and daughters of Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk who’d go on to buy every second tin can we see on internet. So, what do we do? Broke folks like me have two alternatives. First option is to resist to a ground tent we have been carrying for past many years on countless trips.

However, for people who don’t fancy sleeping on ground, there is a second alternative available. They can opt for buying a rooftop tent which I’d prioritize any day over a ground tent. Considering my budget and comfort, the second option looks much more feasible to me.

With so many options available, the dilemma is to choose a rooftop tent that offers comfort and also guarantees safety. Enter Roofnest, the most eminent players in the rooftop tent space for past many years who brings out their first-ever soft-shell rooftop tent to make your car camping a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

It is a fancy alternative to a hard-shell rooftop tent like Falcon Pro, which the company introduced last year. The Meadowlark rooftop tent gets rid of cumbersome poles and guy lines, thus reducing the shelter weight to 90 pounds (40kg). Made of 600D Poly-Oxford material finished with a PVC coating, the tent is durable enough to withstand a range of weather conditions, though I personally won’t recommend you to take it in wind prone area.

Nevertheless, it is compact, lightweight, and easy to store rooftop tent. Measuring 47-inches in length, 44-inches in breath with 12-inches height (when packed), it is a snap to put on and take off. The inside space is quite spacious and can easily accommodate two people. Once fully deployed, it opens out to an 80-inches long, 43-inches wide, and 36-inches tall rooftop tent. It comes with a 2.5-inch-thick dual-density mattress that provides a sturdy sleeping surface to the camping enthusiast.

The car tent can be accessed via a 7.5-foot telescopic ladder. The best part is it can be set up in one minute or so. As far as the set up is concerned, all you need to do is take off the cover, use the telescoping ladder reach the tent and extend the integrated interior U-bar, and you are good to go. The tent can be preordered at the official website of Roofnest for a price of $1,595.
